The founding of the joint venture Breitspur Planungsgesellschaft mbH (BPG) took place in 2008, with the four partners taking equal 25% stakes in the company.
Connecting markets, and in particular the Central European, Ukrainian, Russian and rapidly-growing Asian markets, is becoming increasingly important in terms of global economic development. BPG, with its four strong, international partners, is a part of these interconnected, future-oriented markets.
We are grasping the opportunity for the growth and successful, sustainable future of the goods transportation. The project creates jobs through a further development of the Twin-City region Vienna-Bratislava into a significant logistics hub for a secure labour market of the future.
Alexander Andreas Schierhuber has been representing ÖBB in managing BPG since July 2018. Prior to that, he acted as Export Manager for GAZ International, the export subsidiary of GAZ Group, the largest Russian commercial vehicle manufacturer. He was responsible for entering new markets in Africa. As part of this activity, Mr. Schierhuber negotiated with various governments and regional authorities. He previously worked as a project manager for the parent company GAZ Group and the majority shareholder Russian Machines. He has been gathering working experience in Russia and Africa since 2016. Previously, Mr. Schierhuber worked in the European and Austrian Parliaments. He studied European Economy and Business Management in Vienna and holds a Master's degree in International Management and Leadership from Lauder Business School. In addition, Mr. Schierhuber completed another Master's degree program in “Global Business” at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE).
Mikhail Goncharov graduated from the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO University) in 1984. From 1986 to 1991 Mr. Goncharov was Assistant Professor and Deputy Dean at MGIMO’s Department of Journalism where he pioneered Russia's first ever curriculum in Public Relations. From 1992 to 2005 Mr. Goncharov worked for a succession of international consultancies throughout the CIS region and beyond in strategic communications, financial and investor relations and in crisis specialized management. Mr. Goncharov joined JSC Russian Railways in 2005 as both Deputy Head of the Public Affairs Department and Press Secretary. Since 2007, Mr. Goncharov has served as Adviser to successive Russian Railways CEOs working on multinational railway projects. In this capacity Mikhail Goncharov has been one of the four shareholder representatives in the Breitspur Planungsgesellschaft mbH since 2009.
Peter Ondroušek holds an Engineer title from the Faculty of Civil Engineering of the Technical University in Bratislava. He worked as a Director General for road, water and air transport at the Ministry of Transport and Construction of the Slovak Republic for four years. He also worked as a Vice-chairman of the Transport Bank board of directors and has working experience from several government-related positions. All these positions were directly related to transport systems, road infrastructure and railways. He took several work and study trips (Japan, Netherlands and Great Britain) all of which were related to transportation. He holds the highest civil honours of the Slovak Republic. Mr. Ondroušek joined Breitspur Planungsgesellschaft mbH as one of the four Managing Directors in 2009.
Yurii Pavlyshynets was appointed as the Managing Director of Breitspur Planungsgesellschaft mbH in December 2018. Mr. Pavlyshynets has been working as Director of the Corporate Governance Department at Ukrainian Railways since October 2017, where he supervises a team of professionals responsible for all legal aspects of shares owned by Ukrainian Railways in legal entities. Before joining Ukrainian Railways, Mr. Pavlyshynets served in senior leadership roles at several organizations, in particular at Media Group Ukraine, Asters Law Firm & Renaissance Life. With more than 13 years of relevant experience, Mr. Pavlyshynets primarily focuses on corporate governance, M&A, banking and finance, and general corporate matters. Mr. Pavlyshynets graduated from the Institute of International Relations at Kyiv International University in 2006 with a master’s degree in International Private Law.
